ITunes used to do this..but not anymore =/?

I have a digital voice recorder (Olympus VN-3100 PC) and before when i uploaded the .wav files from my recorder to the iTunes library, iTunes would convert the .wav files into .mp3 format. How come iTunes doesn't do that anymore??
