Would a Great Dane (German Mastiff) be a good dog to get?

If you have small kids I wouldn't recommend a great Dane. But yes they can be trained to live with cats, all dogs can but it's hard work as you have to watch them most of the time to correct this behaviour. Basically you have to show him who is boss and once thats established you show him that you don't approve of his behaviour.
