Why do people cut down rainforests?

Stupidity and then greed. As you know rain forests supply us with vital oxygen without which we wouldn't be able to breath. So, some people are not aware of these cirstances or want to make a quick profit more than likely and that's the reason. Years from now when you are gasping for breath and wonder where all the oxygen has gone, think of these rich capitalists who also will be short of breath, although their bank balances will be healthy enough.
